Rolfe Regular Council Meeting

Monday October 9, 2017

Rolfe Community Center, 5:30pm

 

Mayor Julie Lancaster called the meeting to order at 5:30 pm and took roll call.  Council present Dan Allen, Jon Wellik and Tom Andersen. Absent Al Sroufe. Andersen/Wellik moved to approve the consent agenda including agenda, bills, 9/11/17 & 9/21/17 minutes and building permit for Terri Kipfer.  All ayes. Carried. De Sindergard gave treasurer’s report Wellik/Andersen moved to approve treasurer’s report. All ayes. Carried. 

Council comments – Allen asked about nuisance abatements.

Al Sroufe joined the meeting at 5:35pm.

City Clerk commented have court 9/16/17 for nuisance abatement.  Will be attending conference October 18th – 20th. Meet the candidates is set for Thursday, October 26th at 6:00pm.

No Mayor or citizen comments, no complaint forms.

Mayor read the second reading of ordinance #218 an ordinance amending the code of ordinances o the City of Rolfe, Iowa, by amending chapter 110.04 customer connection fee for gas and Chapter 92.08 customer connection fee for water. Wellik/Allen moved to approve second reading of Ordinance #218.  Ayes: Andersen, Sroufe, Wellik and Allen. Carried.

Andersen/Sroufe moved to approve liquor license for Rolfe Heartland.  All ayes. Carried.

Allen/Wellik moved to approve the Annual Financial Report.  All ayes. Carried.

Andersen/Wellik moved to approve entering into an agreement with Iowa Water/Wastewater Agency Response Network (IOWARN).  All ayes. Carried.

Dave Sandvig gave update on water tower inspection.  Outside and inside will need to be done in the next few years, so probably need to start budgeting for it.

Allen/Sroufe moved to approve sending nuisances at 601 Locust, 607 Locust and 607 Elm to city attorney to start abatement procedures.  All ayes. Carried.

Discussion on the length the state has allowed for fireworks.  Council feels this is to long will change the length of time for the city. 

Karen Johnson discussed what happened when she was moving a resident’s lawn.  She has filed a complaint with Sheriff’s office.  They have told here to contact them when she needs to mow the lawns.

Andersen/Wellik moved to adjourn at 6:12pm.  All ayes. Carried.
