SUNSET RIDGE PARK
We are pleased to play a part in this years' RAGBRAI® ride, by providing a stopping place for the Karras Loop Riders.
With the DOT detouring Highway 15 Traffic along the west edge of Rolfe, we are asking riders to travel east overt the top edge o the city, turn south and ride down our main street, and then turn west on Broad Street stopping at beautiful Sunset Ridge Park, at the southwest corner of town. Lush, green grass and lots of shade will greet riders, as they stop for a brief respite. The park established in 1991, was built with grant and donated funds, and mostly volunteer labor constructing the shelter house and palyground. The pond is well stocked with a variety of fish, and provides home and shelter to numerous turtles, bullfrogs and the occasional ducks or flocks of gees that land on the placid water.
Our Slogan, "Rolfe Rolls for RAGBRAI®" speaks of the delicious cinnamon rolls we will be offering the day of the ride, along with fresh fruit, sport drink and water. This is a community fundraiser with all profits going to support Rolfe's 150th Birthday in 2013.
CLIF Bar energy bars will also offer free samples to riders that day check out their website CLIF Bar
Terry Applegate Will have the family calliope at the park for a bit of old fashioned entertainment.
Michael Majorowicz a local resident will be offering free massages at the park look for him to ease your achy muscles.
The Rolfe Area Pool will also be open for swimming and showers to riders wishing to freshen up or cool off.
Iowa Telecom, whose service Rolfe employs, will set up a trailer near the park, offering internet access and telepone service.
We are looking forward to meeting the diverse group of riders who travel with RAGBRAI and extend an invitation to the 'loop' riders, to take a break, have a bite and rest with us at Sunset Ridge Park.
