Rolfe City Council met in Special Session on Sept. 16, 2004 at 6:30 p.m. Mayor Cullen called the meeting to order. Council members present were Dreith, Johnson, Kuchenreuther, and Sandvig. Absent: Higgins. Others present were Dave Sandvig, Tom Smith, Janice Young, and Chief Hoopingarner.
Motion was made by Kuchenreuther seconded by Sandvig to approve the agenda. All ayes motion carried.
Motion by Johnson seconded by Kuchenreuther to accept the resignation of City Administrator/Clerk Thomas Smith. All ayes motion carried.
Public Works Director Dave Sandvig informed the Council about the needed street repairs. After discussion, the Council directed Sandvig to repair the streets that were in bad shape, not to exceed $3000.00, and to get bids to repair the North end of Arthur Street.
Johnson asked about water levels at the lift station with all the rains. He asked if Public Works director had viewed all the smoke tapes.
Smith updated the Council on the several projects that the City has been working on.
Chief Hoopingarner informed the Council that he had received information back that the Police Department will receive $8000.00 from a grant for which he had applied for thru the Office of Drug Control. The monies will be used to purchase equipment for the department.
Johnson asked about the 28-E agreement for the fire department.
Councilmember Johnson also asked about the vandalism problems around the city. He suggested that signs be posted around for a $l00 reward for anyone having any information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone connected with the problem.
Council discussed surrounded sound system for the Community Center.
Johnson asked about the TIF program.
No further business motion was made by Dreith seconded by Sandvig to adjourn. All ayes motion carried.
Next meeting will be held on October 7, 2004 at 6:30 p.m. for the purpose of going over applications.
