ROLFE CITY COUNCIL
Special Session
October 7, 2004

Rolfe City Council met in Special Session on October 7, 2004 at 6:30 p.m. Mayor Cullen called the meeting to order. Council Members present were Dreith, Higgins, Johnson, Kuchenreuther and Sandvig. Others present were Wm Winkleblack, Todd Kipfer, Geri Sandvig, Charles Schnetter and Chief Hoopingarner.
Motion by Johnson seconded by Sandvig to approve the agenda. All ayes motion carried.
Chief Hoopingarner addressed the Council in regards to the purchasing a camera for the police department. As funds have not been received for a Grant, Hoopingarner asked permission to purchase the camera immediately due to the price. After discussion, motion was made by Johnson seconded by Kuchenreuther to purchase the needed equipment. All ayes motion carried.
RBI representative Wm Winkleblack addressed the council in regards to the future plans of the old gym when the school is taken down. He questioned the council as to if the building would have any Economic Development potentials. Several issues were discussed including the pictures, achievement plaques, pillars in front that contain a time capsule, other memorabilia and the boiler system. After a lengthly discussion, it was suggested that city representatives along with some RBI Economic Development members attend the next school board members. Mayor Cullen directed to try to get on the agenda.
Council acknowledged a letter received from Michael McIlheran concerning the Rolfe Area Ambulance.
Motion was made by Johnson seconded by Kuchenreuther to set Beggar’s Night on Saturday October 30 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. All ayes motion carried.
Council reviewed the applications received for the Clerk/Administrator position. After discussion, Deputy Young was directed to set up interviews. Salary range for the position was set at $25,000.00 pending qualifications.
Personnel issues were addressed.
Council requested Dave Sandvig and Mark Sindergard to be present at the next meeting to discuss the gas and sewer departments.
No further business, motion by Higgins and seconded by Johnson to adjourn. Next regular meeting will be held on October l4, 2004 at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center.
