Rolfe Regular Council Meeting/Public Hearing

Rolfe Community Center, 6:30pm

 

 

Mayor Julie Lancaster called the meeting or order at 6:30p.m. Council present Carl Struve, Al Kuchenreuther, Dan Allen, Joe Ramaekers and Tom Andersen.  Andersen/Ramaekers moved to approve the agenda, consent agenda including 2/10/14, 2/19/2014 minutes and bills. All Ayes. Carried.

De Sindergard gave treasurer’s report all appears fine. Kuchenreuther/Struve moved to approve treasurer’s report.  All ayes. Carried.

Mayor commented that IPERS compliance review was done and everything is fine and clerk doing a good job.

Clerk commented will be gone for conference and training April 9th -11th.

Council comments – Struve asked if we could windrow the south end of Garfield St. and Walnut Street by City Hall.  No citizen comments.

Ramaekers/Allen moved to approve liquor license for Rolfe Golf Club.  All ayes. Carried.  Andersen/Struve moved to approve liquor license for Rolfe Area Market.  All ayes. Carried.

Mayor moved to power outage.  Struve had talked with the Iowa Utilities Board and presented a letter he had sent them about the power outage.  IUB is taking no action.

Dave Sandvig discussed with council the heater not working in the water salesman room. Heat is kept on so fireman can access another water source in winter.  Discussion ceased due to public hearing.

Mayor called to open the public hearing on the well project at 7:00pm.  Curt Wiseman with I & S group answered any questions. With no other oral or written comments Mayor closed the public hearing at 7:07pm.

Kuchenreuther/Andersen moved to approve plans, specs for well project.  All ayes. Carried.

Kuchenreuther/Struve moved to award well project contract to Gingerich Well & Pump Service LLC. in the amount of $118,317.00.  All ayes. Carried.

Discussion returned to the water salesman.  Replacement of heater is $1000.00, Mayor will discuss with fireboard on cost and need.

Margo Underwood gave an update on the Hometown pride committee. Discussed first impression exchange visit with Bancroft.  Reported their observations both positive and negative.  Glenn Markley and Joe Ramaekers also reported on the exchange program.

Mayor called to open the public hearing at 7:30 on the FY15 Budget.  No written or oral comments or questions.  Mayor closed the public hearing at 7:32pm.

Ramaekers/Kuchenreuther moved to adopt the FY 2015 budget.  Ayes: Kuchenreuther, Struve, Allen, Andersen and Ramaekers.  Motion Carried.

Kuchenreuther/Ramaekers moved to approve the amended agreement for professional services with Bolton & Menk for the Construction and Design phase for the sewer project.  All ayes. Carried.

Ramaekers/Struve moved to set clean up days for May 5th and May 6th.  All ayes.  Carried.

Ramaekers/Struve moved to adjourn at 7:34pm.  All ayes. Carried.
