Rolfe Regular Council Meeting

Monday June 13, 2016

Rolfe Community Center, 5:30pm

 

Mayor Julie Lancaster called the meeting to order at 5:30pm and took roll call.  Council present Jon Wellik, Pat Sheda, Carl Struve and Tom Andersen.  Absent Dan Allen.

Struve/Sheda moved to approve consent agenda including bills, corrected 5/09/16 minutes and building permits for Spencer. 

Andersen/Wellik moved to approve treasurer’s report.

Struve commented on council conduct.  Mayor iterated that all council needs to conduct themselves as representatives of the city. Wellik asked about tree pile. Mayor explained DNR allowed a one time burn.

Clerk commented the old recycling truck sold at auction, will be gone the week of June 20th on vacation. Mayor also commented on kids are out of school, please watch speed and for children.  No citizen comments.  Had one complaint about loose dog.

Council discussed the RC track that it looks much better no action taken.

Council discussed unfinished garage.  Sheda/Wellik moved to take appropriate actions after the building permit expires.  All ayes. Carried.

Bill Winkleblack gave update on pool project, came in under budget and thanked all the numerous volunteers.

Andersen/Struve moved to approve cigarette permits for Rolfe Heartland and Rolfe Area Market.  All ayes. Carried.

Pam Orr from Safe Haven Animal Shelter gave update on cost and care of animals, and animals brought in from Rolfe.  Discussed with council a plan when an animal is released back to owner, animal needs to be licensed with city and rabies up to date.  If animal is taken back to shelter will not be released to owner a second time.  Sheda/Wellik moved to contribute $1500.00 to Save Haven.  All ayes. Carried.

Josh Vigdal asked permission from council to have a fishing tournament on the Saturday of Greater Rolfe Days and Sunset Ridge, $10.00 cost to enter, food and prizes, catch and release only.  Sheda/Struve moved to approve the fishing tournament, waive the $25.00 rental fee, but still needs to pay $100.00 deposit.  All ayes. Carried.

Andersen/Sheda moved to approve Resolution #615 a resolution to transfer funds from the Emergency, Local Option Sales Tax, and Gas account to the General Account.  Transfer funds from the Local Option to Economic Development. Transfer funds from the Local Option to Pool project fund. Transfer from the Sewer Lining Project to Sewer fund to close out the sewer project capital account.  All ayes. Carried.

Andersen/Wellik moved to take action on all junk and junk vehicles except for Vigdal.  All ayes. Carried.

Struve/Andersen moved to adjourn at 6:26pm.  All ayes. Carried.
